One For The Road - Winter 2006, Capitol File Magazine by Jeff Nani
"On my way home after a trip to the Greenbrier I asked my driver, Billy to pull off the highway in Lexington, Virginia so we could find some dinner. We spied Cafe Michel atop a hill. The place was packed, the wine was flowing. We started with garlicky escargot, followed by tender duck in raspberry sauce and a perfect creme brulee. It proved that part of the fun of hitting the road is what you find along the way."
Enjoy a bit of France in Lexington - December 2004, Roanoke.com by Larry Bly
"No doubt about it, Chef Michel knows his French cooking. The restaurant is fine dining in a casual atmosphere."
"Ah, the sauce. The French do it better than anyone; and Chef Michel throws them all at you: raspberry sauce, peppercorn sauce, mushroom cream sauce, port wine sauce, Béarnaise sauce, Burgundy mushroom sauce, Roquefort cream sauce, maitre d'butter -- you name it -- the good chef is on it!"
Fat City Gourmet - March 2000, CITY Magazine by Dave Richardson
"The cuisine is the key here..., It's not the French service that makes a restaurant French it is the authentic French cuisine. Atmosphere, ambiance and decor are superior and charming. The restaurant is a must see. The desserts are excellent. The crème brulee is a joyful experience. The service is nothing short of excellent, and it all awaits you only a forty-five minutes drive from Roanoke to the restaurant. If you love fine dining and extraordinary French Cuisine, this is the place for you. CITY magazine's French Restaurant of the Millennium."
Roanoke Times - Dining Out by Dolores Kostelni
"A little French restaurant call Michel Café serves perfectly prepared, absolutely splendid and truly delicious foods. Michel Café is a classic without pretense…The food he serves there is the result of years of training and experience. It is delicious. I would take Julia Child there for dinner if she were visiting me."
